Show LOCAL ITEMS OF INTEREST . ! S. J. Duggins, head of the Duggins Motor company, accompanied by Mrs. Duggins, returned Monday after spending the week-end at Salt Lake, where they were combining business with pleasure. J. E. Jones, general manager for the Western Newspaper Union at the Salt Lake City branch, was a caller at The News office Saturday. Mr. Jones was returning from a southern trip, where he had visited many of the newspaper offices. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Overfelt were host and hostess at a bridge and solo party Saturday evening. The guests were Dr. and Mrs. J. A. Hagan, Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Whittenburg and Mrs. F. H. Jones of Gunnison, and Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Cherry of Salina. Joe Kearns, one of Utah's leading wool buyers, and who represents Boston interests, spent Saturday here and was conferring with local flockmasters relative to the spring wool clip. H. T. Martines and Norman An-dreason, An-dreason, representing the Telluride Power company, were Gunnison visitors visit-ors Tuesday. C. E. Andersen and Mrs. Andersen, and Miss Lucretia Ashby, motored to Provo Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Andersen Ander-sen were interested spectators at the B. Y. U. and University of Utah basketball bas-ketball game. Miss Ashby visited with relatives. Ronald Brandon of Mt. Pleasant, was a Gunnison business visitor Monday Mon-day of this week. Mr. Brandon reported report-ed a heavy snowfall in and around the Hub1 city. Mr. and Mrs: Walter Weibrecht of Salt Lake, were here the first of the week and werethe guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Childs. Members of the Treas Jouli club and a few invited guests were royally entertained by Mrs. J. E. Metcalf at her home Thursday afternoon of last week. Progressive brdge .was the diversion di-version and favors were won by Mrs, Mac Peterson and Mrs. F. H. Jones. Following cards, a delicious hot plate luncheon was served. Out-of-town guests were Mesdames Lester Mellor. Lee Mellor, Stanley Mellor, Wilford Frischknecht and Glen Jensen of Manti. Mrs. S. K. Roper celebrated her birthday anniversary Wednesday eve-j eve-j ning of last week by entertaining at t an elaborate dinner, followed by a i lively game of cards. At seven o'clock ; the dinner was served, covers being- laid for 16. In the progressive game ' of 500, favors were, won by Mrs. N. ! Leon Larson and Harold Christen-t Christen-t son. Dr. and Mrs. Franklin O. Bul-f Bul-f lock of Salina were special guests, j Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Knighton, who ;' motored to Salt Lake Saturday, have ! returned to their home here. Mr. j Knighton was in the city on impor- I tant business matters. ; j Mr. and Mrs. Leo Gledhill were jhost and hostess Sunday evening to j fourteen friends at a seven o'clock j dinner party. Following dinner, games, ! a social time, and music, were enjoy-j enjoy-j able features. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Fredrickson motored to Salina and Redmond Tuesday, Tues-day, where they were guests of friends I and relatives.
