Show Prices Go Lower, Says Penney Head F. H. Jones, manager of the J. C. Penney company, returned home Sunday Sun-day after spending a week at Denver, where he attended the annual spring convention- of the J. C. Penney company. com-pany. More than 200 store managers from several states adjacent to Denver Den-ver were in attendance and striking announcements, bearing on the sales program of the organization for th:; year, were made. Earl C. Sams, president of the J. C. Penney company, sounded the inspirational in-spirational keynote of the organization organiza-tion when he stated that all business was again in the pioneering period, according to a statement made by Mr. Jones. "During April, all stores will join in a special sales program which will offer 30 remarkable values, one for each year in which the campany has been operating. "Throughout the entire year, prices will be notably lower, on the majority major-ity of items, than they h;JVe been for years, due largely to the manner in which the company has adapted itself to the new merchandising conditions prevailing throughout the country and to the new price standards which have been established. "The majority of managers are anticipating an-ticipating a steady increase in the rate of retail buying and orders placed plac-ed for early delivery on a wide range of items indicate complete confidence in the future." During the convention Mr. Sams stressed the need for individual initiative initia-tive in all lines of work and stated that the future was in the hands of men who built constructively. |
