Show Big Minstrel Show For Sweet Charity Shrieks of fun and laughter will await patrons at the community welfare wel-fare charity show, to be given at the Casino theatre Wednesday, February 17. This will be the second show given giv-en by the Gunnison Lions club, with civic and church organizations cooperating, co-operating, and indications are that the event for the coming week will be a "wow," not only from an entertaining entertain-ing standpoint, but from charity contributions con-tributions as well. The performance will be strictly home talent and there will be no picture pic-ture exhibition. On the other hand, some of the cleverest comedians in the western country will be seen in minstrel acts. The cast for this feature fea-ture has been in training for a number num-ber of weeks, and the "crew" will have something that will make the most sedate "titter." In addition to the minstrel performance, perform-ance, there will be a varied program j of musical, vocal and reading num-1 bers, and "pep" in every act will prove an attraction worth while seeing. Due to the lack of work and the long cold spell, resulting in the heads of many families in Gunnison being without employment, the warehouse ware-house supplies assembled at the first charity show given are practically exhausted, ex-hausted, and pleas are being made for help. It will be necessary to again make a plea to the charitably-inclined to help stock the warehouse, as some real suffering has been revealed by the committee making surveys. As before, admission to the show scheduled for Wednesday evening of next week will be by contribution of foodstuffs, fuel and money, and it is to be hoped that everybody will be liberal as there is dire need for food and fuel for several families. Flour, rice, sugar, cereals, and anything that is not perishable, are sought. In the event donors wish to contribute contri-bute before the time of the show, they are asked to get in touch with Leo Gledhill, custodian of the warehouse. |
