Show iGwinison Boxer To Mix With Salt Laker Boxing matches, which in the past have proven great sport for the fans of Gunnison and the valley surrounding, surround-ing, are again to be resumed for this winter and it is announced that some classy battles will be staged at frequent fre-quent intervals. Under the new management, man-agement, it is said, only clean' boxing will be staged, but the best of talent will be provided. Strict rules are to be observed and the bouts will be of the clean type and conducted on a plan that will not horrify the dignity of anyone. The first bout is to be held next Wednesday at the Gunnison Valley high school gymnasium when Claire Tollestrup, popular Southern Utah wplterweight, and Mack Payne of Salt Lake, who carries a string of victories strapped to his belt. Both boxers are in the welterweight"' class and are evenly matched, thus assuring assur-ing a close battle. Tollestrup, a native of Gunnison, spent several months on the Pacific coast last year and was engaged in many bouts. He won for himself a fine reputation, and incidentally inci-dentally crowned himself with several victories. In addition to the main event there will be several preliminary bouts with boys of lesser talent at the match next Wednesday evening. |
