Show Story of Dog Heroism Appealed to Children Balto, the dog with a hero's heart, took antitoxin to the children of Nome. Balto, dying peacefully of old age, will live again in effigy for generations gen-erations of children of Cleveland. The story of this husky and his teammates and their trip across th wintry wilds of Alaska for the relief of diphtheria-stricken Nome has been told and retold and told again. The rescue of Balto and his companions com-panions from the ignominy of a California Cali-fornia dime museum and the bringing bring-ing of them to Cleveland, financed by the pennies of our school children chil-dren all this is part of the annals of Cleveland. But Balto dead will not lose his niche in the community. Carefully mounted, his sleek fur stretched lifelike life-like over a dead form instead of the vigorous pulsing body which took hope to Nome, he will take his place among the attractions of the Cleveland Cleve-land Museum of Natural History the efligy of a great dog gone to his reward.
