Show County Pioneer Passes Tuesday Louisa Larsen Johnson, 74-year-old pioneer of Sanpete county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. L. Swalberg, early Tuesday morning. Mrs. Johnson suffered a stroke of apoplexy last Friday, and due to her weakened condition she failed to rally and passed peacefully away without pain or a struggle. Mrs. Johnson made her home with her daughter for the past year, coming here from Mt. Pleasant, where she settled when she came from Sweden. Mrs. Johnson was born November 2, 1858, at Helsingborng. In the year 1881 she was married to Lars Johnson, John-son, the marriage ceremony being performed in their native land. In 1903 Mr. and Mrs. Johnson came to America with their family and located locat-ed at Mt. Pleasant, where she had resided continuously until two years ago when she came to Gunnison. She became a member of the L. D. S. church in Sweden and for thirty years' was a Relief society teacher and served serv-ed in other auxiliary organizations of the Mormon church. She wras a kind and loving mother and was widely known for her charitable acts in sickness sick-ness and want. The husband was called call-ed by death in 1906. Mrs. Johnson was the mother of eight children, five of whom survive. They are Mrs. E. L. Swalberg of Gunnison; Mrs. S. M. Nielson and Mrs. N. W. Anderson of Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. J. T. Clift of Ogden; Mrs. Har-1 old Halverson of this city, and fifteen grandchildren. Funeral and burial services will be held at Mt. Pleasant this, Thursday, afternoon at 2 o'clock. |
