Gunnison at Elsinore. Nephi at Salina. In a game featured by the pitching of Bauer and the fielding of the entire en-tire Scipio team, Gunnison took a fast one from Scipio on the local diamond Sunday by a score of 5 to 4. Bauer set a new league record when he struck out 18 Scipio batters, bettering by one the record set by Nyles Chris-lensen, Chris-lensen, star southpaw of the Salina club, last year and equaled by Bauer in a game with the Elsinore club here Sunday, June 25. The Scipio batters were able to glean only 2 hits off Bauer's delivery, and except for a wild streak in the sixth inning would have had a shut-out. In the fatal sixth a hit batsman, 2 walks, 2 wild pitches, coupled with two infield errors, and one of Scipio's two hits netted them their four runs. Outside of that inning Bauer pitched superb ball, striking out all the men to face him in the 4th, 5th and 7th innings. Besides his wonderful pitching exhibition, ex-hibition, Bauer led his mates in batting bat-ting with 3 hits in four times up. The entire Scipio team played excellent ex-cellent ball in the field. One play especially, es-pecially, a brilliant running catch by Hunter of a hard hit ball by W. Vil-'ard, Vil-'ard, which was laboled a home run, was an outstanding feature. Their splendid fielding was responsible for Gunnison's low score. Sunday's game was the last the club was scheduled for the first half of the league play. The Gunners will make their first appearance for the second half of the league play with Elsinore next Sunday, Sun-day, July 16. The locals are showing considerable speed as the games advance, ad-vance, and it is announced that new-players new-players in the league territory will be added to the roster, which will result in more strength. Waldo Villard, who has accepted a government position in Arizona, will not be seen any more this season in a Gunners suit. The loss of Villard will weaken the Gunners' playing, for the present at least. Following is Sunday's score: GUNNISON. B. H. 0. A. Stubbs, 2b 5 1 1 0j A. Villard, c 4 1 19 2, W.
