Show George H. Barney Called By Death Solemn and impressive funeral services ser-vices were held at the Centerfield meeting house Monday afternoon of this week for George Henry Barney. Bishop Chas. Hansen was in charge and throughout the services were most impressive. A quartet rendered several sev-eral selections at intervals, the numbers num-bers being "Jesus Lover of My Soul" "Is It Well With My Soul" and "Resting "Rest-ing Now From Care and Sorrow" Invocation was offered by President Parks and the benediction by Chris A. Peterson. The speakers were Brigham Jensen, Parley Christiansen, Sidney Fjeldsted, J. F. Fisher and Bishop Hansen. All speakers gave doctrinal talks and each paid a high tribute to the life of the deceased. George Henry Barney died at his home at the Parker ranch shortly after af-ter noon last Saturday. He was stricken about the first of February of this year with a complication arising aris-ing from serious kidney trouble, that was given as the cause of death. The deceased was born at Pan-guitch, Pan-guitch, January 19, 1876, the son of Alma and Alice A. Barney. He was active in civic circles at his home and became widely known as an efficient employ of the government, having 'jrved as supervisor of the Powell forest for twenty years. Mr. Barney at the age of 15 years, began teaching teach-ing school and was highly successful. He was a student and a great reader and aided his friends and neighbors in many ways. In his early days he became a member mem-ber of the Mormon church and up to the time of his death he lived his faith. He served as a missionary for the church, laboring in the northwestern northwest-ern states. He also took active part in ward work. In December 1920, the deceased was married to Addie Gott-freson. Gott-freson. He had been married twice previously, both of his former wives having been called by death. About a year ago, Mr. Barney and his family removed to this valley, moving from Provo an settled on the Parker ranch west of Centerfield. The deceased is survived by the widow, Mrs. Addie Barney and five sons, Burns P. Barney of Chicago, Gardner of Escalante, Wayne, Rex and Kline who were with the family. Relatives and friends attending the funeral from out side points were Dr. and Mrs. D. D. Tebbs, Logan, Alma Barney, Panguitch, and Mr. and Mrs. George Madsen, Mrs. Lydia T. Winters and Mrs. T. C. Candland of Mt. Pleasant. Following the services at Center-field Center-field the body was taken to Pang-guitch, Pang-guitch, where final interment and further services were held. |
