Show Fancy Dairy Cows Arrive In Valley The young boys of Gunnison and the valley and wh have organized a club for the purpose of developing better dairy herds for themselves are highly enthustastic over the start that has been made and all members are looking forward to the work which will be speeded up during the coming summer months. At a recent re-cent meeting of the members it was decided to have the club knw:m as A the Gunnison Valley Livestock club. Dr. M. H. Knudsen and F. W. Cox, who were especially delegated to go to Washington to purchase the two car loads of dairy cattle have returned return-ed and the animals were distributed to the sfve'a' points where similar clubs to that of Gunnison have been organized. Eight of the heifers, all bred, were brought to Gunnison, having hav-ing been driven from the county seat and they have been distributed to the several members of the club. Due to the long journey the cows were not in the best of condition, but since being fed and having a good rest they have shown a splendid inmprovement and all the young stockmen are well pleased. The dams of the eight delivered here are in the cow testing associations and the record shows the yearly production produc-tion averaging from 37S to 542 pound of butter fat. The stock delivered ranged in price, all overhead included, from $S9 to $114. All will freshen soon and at that time real work will be started in the valley. |
