Show day anniversary. The time was spent: in playing and during the afternoon delicious refreshments were served. Being thrown from his horse that he was riding and rendered uncons-j uncons-j cious was the fate of Lester Poulson I last Sunday. Lester was jogging ' along when his horse jumped and the lad was thrown several feet and in addition to being knocked senseless he received deep cuts on the lip and chin and his leg was badly brised. He is reported to be getting along nicely. James Sanderson left the first of the week for Carbon county where he has secured employment at the mines. Members of the Bonne Foi club were the guests at the home of Mrs. Fred H. Jones yesterday afternoon from two to five thirty and the usual delightful time was enjoyed by those present. The reading was given by Mrs. Grover Childs during the needle-craft needle-craft 'hour. Light refreshments were served by the hostess at five o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Sanderson and son, Bud, and Mr. and Mrs. El-den El-den Broadhead and Lee Broadhead, were in the city as the guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Sanderson San-derson on Independence day. Mr. and Mrs. Niels P. Gregerson and famliy left this morning for a trip to Southern points. The will go first to Circleville, where they will be the guests at the home of Repre-Ventative Repre-Ventative and Mrs. J. L. Whittaker. vhey will be absent about a week and before returning expect to visit at Bryce Canyon and other points. Mr. and Mrs. Alex. H. Lund and son, Elden, of Salt Lake made a brief stop at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Lund last Sunday. The visitors were just returning from a trip to Southern Utah's scenic wonderland. won-derland. Mrs. George E. Bench of Manti, is in the city for an extended visit to her daughter, Mrs. Joseph A. Larson. Lar-son. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Tollestrup and children, of Manteka, California, were arrivals from the coast last week. They are the guests at the home of .Mrs. Annie Christensen, and expect to be here for ten days or two weeks. LOCAL ITEMS OF INTEREST Mrs. Sam Dowse, Mrs. Joe Kearns, i Mrs. S. J. Ostler and Mrs. Henry Kleinschmidt of Salt Lake, were among those from the state capitol that joined in celebrating the Fourth of July in Gunnison. Mrs. Henry Terry and children, of Mt. Pleasant, have returned to their home after spending several days at the home of Mayor and Mrs. Par-ley Par-ley Christiansen. ' Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Beck enjoyed a delightful outing on a tour to some of Utah's scenic wonders last Saturday Sat-urday and Sunday. Leaving Gunnison Gunni-son Friday afternoon they motored to Bryce Canyon and the following day they went to Cedar Breaks. En-route En-route home they stopped at Cedar City and other points and thoroughly enjoyed the outing. Ilyruni Christiansen, proprietor of the Gunnison Grocery, was a business busi-ness traveler to Salt Lake Sunday. He was accompanied by his daughter Aleda, and they are expected home this evening. Royal Buchanan, representing shoe and dress houses, was in the city Monday. Sanford Anderson w-ho has been absent for the past month or more in Nevada and western Utah, has returned re-turned to the city. He expects to remain here for some time visiting with his family. Mrs. Hyrum Christiansen was host ess at a dinner party Sunday, complimentary compli-mentary to Mr. and Mrs. Bert Will-nrdson Will-nrdson who were visiting here from Salt Lake. Cover were laid for twelve. Worden H. McMillan, a former resident' re-sident' of Gunnison, has joined the navy, according to advices received here. The young man is now stationed sta-tioned at a training camp at San Diego, Calif., and is enjoying the life thus far. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lewis came up from Richfield last Saturday, and were the guests at the home of Mr. IiCwis' father, William Duffin, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lewis. Fred Jorgensen, who has been absent ab-sent for the past month at Ingomar, Mont., assisting in shearing many of the large herds of sheep, returned home Friday evening. He reports the flocks in Montana as doing well and that the wool clip was exceptionally excep-tionally good. Laura Fay Jensen celebrated her 4th birthday anniversary 'Monday afternoon by entertaining a number of little friends. Lawn games and i-omping were enjoyed by the guests, until late afternoon when Mrs. Edd Jensen served dainty refreshments. Mrs. William Metcalf was hostess to a number of friends at a mah jongg party Friday evening of last week complimentary to her daughter Mrs. D. B. Sanders who is visiting here from Bllensbuxgv (Wasty . A delicious luncheon was served at seven thirty and following mah jbngg was played. Favor were won by Mrs. J. E. Metcalf, Mrs. G. D. Peery and Mrs. Ray Metcalf. - Mr. and Mrs. Edd Jensen were the host and hostess at a dinner party Sunday afternoon in honor of Mr. and Mrs. John O. Mellor of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Other guests present from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Mellor, Mr. and Mrs. Wells Mellor, Mel-lor, Mr. and Mrs. Roy D. Mellor of Manti; Dr. and Mrs. Ernel Jensen of Ephriam, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Mellor Mel-lor of Fayette, and Mr. and Mrs. J.-. J.-. Metcalf of Gunnison. During Sunday Sun-day evening Mr. and J. E. Metcalf had the visitors as their guests. Roy Edwards, Arley Edwards and Billy Baxter, three of the expert sheepshearers of the west, returned last week from an extended stay at northern Idaho and Wyoming points. , Mr. and Mrs. Ray Metcalf and Miss Beulah Metcalf motored to Salt Lake Thursday of last week and were the guests of Miss Alda Metcalf, who is studying music at the city. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Myrbery of Salt Lake, were the guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Peterson. Mrs. , Myrbery was formely Miss Edna Clements and is well known here. They well return to their home the first of the week. Will Gledhill, who is employed at Dividend, was here to celebrate In-. In-. dependence day with his wife and family. !
