Show Indian Slaughter House When what is now North Dakota nnd Montana were inhabited solely by Indians the natives utilized a high precipice at the foot of an incline be- j tween two in-sloping hills for their slaughter house. The buffalo were ; rounded up and started on a stampede stam-pede down the incline, only to tumble headlong over the precipice. The fall killed hundreds of buffalo every time. The Indians then cured and dried their winter's supply of meat. When the railroad was put through and the 1 town of Granville, N. D., started it was necessary to haul thousands of carloads of buffalo bones away from thla spot. |
