Show Poultry Officials Boosting Industry "Utah's milk white eggs" are now 'famed throughout the United States and New York, Detroit, points in Florida, California and other states are receiving the splendid quality eggs being produced in Utah and each year sees a bigger growth and market for the Utah product. This was the expression of Benj. Brown, ! director of sales shipments for the Utah Poultry Producers association on his visit here last Friday. Mr. Brown was accompanied by Bert Willardson, vice-president of the or- ganization, and the officials were j here conferring with local poultry-: men on feed, baby chick shipments and with a view to instilling a greater great-er interest in the poultry business. Last year, according to Mr. Brown, the Utah association shipped 2,000,-000, 2,000,-000, the shipments going to large eastern centers where the famous "milk white eggs" hare gained an enviable place for the large .hotels and in the homes. Proper feeding and care and proper culling and the grading of the eggs has been responsible, respon-sible, to a degree, for the large popularity pop-ularity of the Utah product on the eastern markets. Feeding, Mr. Brown stated, is one of the important factors fac-tors in the success of the poultry-men. poultry-men. Where this has been followed on a scientific basis, the poultryman never fails,' providing, however, oth-j oth-j er essential points are properly car-ed car-ed for. The Utah Poultry Producers association asso-ciation bad its inception in Gunni-" Gunni-" son some few years ago. At the time j the association was established three men comprised the working forces. Today the association boasts of eight assembling plants in the state, with 150 on the payroll. The American Refrigeration company, realizing the magnitude of the Utah concern, is preparing more cars for the transportation trans-portation of the egg product of this state and has notified the head officers offi-cers that as many cars as will be necessary will be available at a moment's mo-ment's notice. Following the visit of Mr. Brown .and . Mr. Willardson the local poul-trymen. poul-trymen. made plans for the reception recep-tion of many thousands of baby chicks which will be added to the flocks during the early spring. The importance of the industry and the fact that splendid returns result, has enthused the valley egg . producers and it is anticipated that within another an-other year thousands of eggs from here will' be going out with the "Milk White Brand" to the eastern marts.
