Show COUNTY TO GET FEDERAL HELP ROAD COMMISSIONERS SIGN SEVERAL SEV-ERAL AGREEMENTS FOR BUILDING HIGHWAYS Road Conditions Are Generally Good In the District Visited, The Engineer Engin-eer Reported, and Plans Made For Improvements Salt Lake City. A co-operative agreement providing for the construction construc-tion of a strip of road between Bridal Veil Falls andlmstead, in Utah county, coun-ty, as a federal aid project, was signed sign-ed by the state road commission and the commissioners of Utah county. The road Is estimated to cost $128, 000, of which $91,720 will be furnished by the federal government and the balance by the county. Agreements were signed, also, by the commission and the federal bureau bu-reau of public roads for the construction construc-tion of the Heber-Fruitland forest road, route No. 4, and for the survey construction and maintenance of the Escalante-Widtsoe No. 6 section of Junction-Escalante forest highway. The commission also entered into an agreement with the Oregon Short Line railroad for the construction of a wooden box culvert under the tracks of the railroad's Evonla branch on the Ogden-IIooper road. Tho state is to build this culvert and bear the expense ex-pense of keeping it up. Ira R. Browning, chief engineer of the state road commission, and E. C. Knowlton, maintenance engineer, returned re-turned from an inspection trip thru Sanpete, Sevier, Wayne, Piute, Garfield Gar-field and Kane counties. They were accompanied on that trip by J. E. Garn, district engineer in that section. sec-tion. Road conditions are generally good in the district visited, the engineer reported, and plans were made for improving them in places. It is expected ex-pected that work of improvement will be agreed upon soon on the Gunnison-Levan Gunnison-Levan road, and Sanpete county was reported anxious to obtain federal aid on the Mt. Pleasant-Chester road. The engineers discussed with the county commissioners of Sevier county the improvement of the road south of Joseph in that county, and it was decided de-cided to make a survey over the road from Elsinore, so that any improvements improve-ments undertaken would be on the final location of the road. |
