Show Elaborate Plans For Pioneer Day Celebration i Th pioneers who blazed the way to : Utah and who suffered hardships and privations, will be duly honored with an appropriate celebration at the j Gunnison Valley high school tomor- j row. The four wardsi Gunnison, Centerfield, Hamilton and Clarion j will join to gether for the occasion and in the morning an appropriate j program will be given at the high : school auditorium. It will be general holiday throughout the valley and practically all business houses will be closed, thus enabling everybody to take part and hear the program. There will be a band to furnish the music, a splendid dance has been arranged ar-ranged for the younger (folks and during the afternoon a splendid program pro-gram of sports will be given and altogether al-together there will be entertainment and amusement for all. At ten thirty in the morning a Pioneer Day Program will be given and will be conducted by Chas S, Hansen, who will represent, the for-1 mer president, Brigham Young. The program follows: Selection Valley Band Singing, "Utah The Queen of the West" Audience Invocation Bp. Jos. A.Larson ; Singing ''Come, Come, Ye Saints" Audience Welcome Address ' "Utah" . . . Lafe Frandsen There will be an intermission between be-tween the closing of the morning exercises ex-ercises and the time for the opening of the children's dance in the afternoon. after-noon. The dance will start at 2:30 and for this occasion special music has been arranged and a good time is promised all. At four o'clock the high school athletic ath-letic field will be the scene of a big program of sports. There will be all kin.ds of stunts and children and adults ad-ults as well, will be eligible to enter. There will be children races, Married ladies racs, ladies sewing contest, an 1 a free-for-all 100 yard dash for men. Broncho riding, a slow horse race, auto race, auto mechanic race and a horse pulling contest and a cracker eating contest. There will be prizes of some char-ater char-ater awarded in each event and all children entering races or other contests con-tests will receive something. A big crowd is expected in Gunnison Gunni-son and to make the event impressive impres-sive business houses and others are. asked to decorate their places of business bu-siness and homes. |
