Show Gunnison Mm Has Delicate Operation C. M. Madsen, former state representative rep-resentative and well known through-1 out Utah, is confined to a hospital at Salt Lake City making a splendid recovery from a delicate and intri-! cate operation. Mr. Madsen, who sus- ! tained an injury to his left shoulder some six weeks or more ago, submit ted to an operation Tuesday morning, the operation being performed by Drs. Hosmer and Murphy, assisted ; by Dr. J. A. Hagan of this city. The! operation consisted of removing the head of the bone at the shoulder and about two thirds of the shaft, the 1 bone being severed about two inches above the elbow. Due to the unusual operation some ten of the eminent surgeons of Salt Lake were present ' as witnesses. The operation was most successful and while the arm will be useless to a degree, its use 1 will not be lost entirely. Mr. Madsen ! stood the ordeal in splendid shape and yesterday morning he was reported to be resting well and in good spirits. 1 Some few weeks ago Mr. Madsen, 1 while driving his car, was subpect to a bad wrench at the shoulder. The in I jury gave him much pain and he con ' suited several surgeons. He gained lit tie relief and it was not until several X-ray pictures were taken that the real seriousness of the injury was discovered. The injury resulted in a malignant growth and it had gained such headway that an immediate operation op-eration was deemed advisable. Mr. Madsen has hosts of friends here who regret to hear of his misfortune, mis-fortune, but all will wish him a speedy and safe recovery. Dr. Hagan, who returned from the hospital yesterday yes-terday stated that conditions were most favorable and that it was ex pecteel that Mr. Madsen would leave the hospital in about two weeks or less. |
