Show Breast Stroke Is Hope of Germans in Olympic In an effort to regain the swimming laurels won in the 1012 Olympic games at Stockholm, the last in which German Ger-man athletes participated, the National Nation-al Swimming association of Germany I is attempting to enroll every swimmer of promise in preparation for the 10S games at Amsterdam. The most promising .candidates for the team have started training under Walter P.inner and Kurt Rehrens of Madgeburg.. both Olympic veterans. Binner doubts whether he can produce a free-style star to compete successfully success-fully against John Weismuller of the United States and ArnerRorg of Sweden. Swe-den. Rinner's hopes are pinned' on such veterans as R Rademacher, who two years ago set world indoor breast stroke records for 200 and 400 meters, and Heinrich. Fraulein Erna Huneus, a seventeen-year-old swimmer, who recently re-cently set a world's indoor breast stroke of lm. 20s. for 100 meters, is considered the better of the women candidates. In the 1012 Olympics German swimmers swim-mers won the 400-meter breast stroke; first, second and third places in the 200-meter breast stroke and fancy diving; div-ing; and second places in the back- stroke, the relay and high diving. |
