Show BANKS AND INDUSTRY. More and more do we see the progressive pro-gressive bank of today making the question of industrial development a personal matter. The wide-awake bank management knows that bank prosperity depends on two kinds of accounts, indivfdual and industrial. Individual account will be lacking if there is a lack of industrial activity. Therefore it is directly to the interest inter-est of every bank to push community development and thus by indirection develop its own business. All over the country we see this thought reflected In bank advertising. Illustrating this point take the following follow-ing paragraph from a recent advertisement adver-tisement of the Northwestern National Bank, Portland, Oregon, in which It points out advantages of increased waterpower development : "Increased soil production as well as greater industrial production, will be the fruits derived from the development devel-opment of our "white coal." Cheap power will enable irrigation projects to pump water to our arid lands and reclaim them to fertility. Tower will be used to do a great share of the drudgery on farms and will offer every farmhouse the electrical conveniences found in a city home." This bank is developing the "industrial "in-dustrial idea" which means prosperity for all. ' |
