Show STARTLING NEWS. If our readers are in any mood to bo startled we wish to startle them with the first hand information from the staid old lioston Transcript that foreign nations are at work again in the United State with highly paid agents, and unlimited sums of money. mon-ey. The business of "propagandizing" "propagandiz-ing" the American peoples to their deep damnation has again begun on a larger and fiercer scale than ever. .The Transcript has not gotten to the point of naming the foreign nations na-tions who are organizing to our undoing, un-doing, nor have any specific amounts of gold boon named, but as to the purpose of the propaganda, that Is well understood in Washington, and "public officials," again unnamed, nro determined that the American people shall be warned in time. The gold Ih here, the plotting agents are active, the work Is progressing insidiously in-sidiously and here is the plot: "They are now trying, by every moans in their power to foster the growth of pacifist sentiment in the United tSntes, and to give material nid and support to pacifist organizations organiza-tions In the United tSates,, now busily busi-ly engaged In a campaign to compel congress to scrap the treaty navy, and reduce the army to a. point where it could interpose no real resistance re-sistance In the event of foreign aggression ag-gression upon the United States, or upon its insular possessions." The plan of campaign of these propagandists would seem to be to reach every American with talk of disarmament and world peace, and In that way to lull us into a false sense of security, and then in some unexpected moment to assail us. Thus the Transcript says further: "Potential enemies of the United States have now taken advantage of present-day conditions in the United States to develop further their propagandist pro-pagandist organization in this country, coun-try, with the object, apparent to anyone any-one who studies the methods of their operationsr of weakening American's power of resistance should the emergency emer-gency of war unfortunately again arise." So far has this scheme carried in detail that the Transcript is able to catalog the sorts of people in America Amer-ica the work is being done on. They are ranged 1, 2, 3 etc. in the order in which this foreign gold is being spent on them. "First The so-called intellectuals, intellectu-als, college professors, heads of colleges col-leges and universities, and churchmen church-men of various denominations. "Second Certain prominent writers writ-ers and speakers, and certain men influential in-fluential in the business world. "Third Pacifists and those with pacifist leanings. "Fourth Various women's civic organizations. . "Fifth Intellectual busybodies, and sentimentalists, and those who believe that the patriotic virtues are worn out and obselete, and those who affect to believe that loyalty to the principles of internationalism should take precedence over loyalty to the American flag. "Sixth Students in schools and colleges, particularly those studying political science and sociology. "Seventh American citizens of Negro blood. "Kighth Iu the Philippines for olivious reasons some of the politicians poli-ticians and leaders favoring immediate immedi-ate Philippine independence." In the emergency what would the Transcript advise? Nobody can havej th slightest hesitation about the j answer. Build the greatest army and navy the world ever say and see! to it that none of propagandized j Americans are permitted to have anything any-thing to say about it. Perhaps it should be added incidentally in-cidentally that the hints all point to Japan as the country that is de-j termined to undermine us. It is! easier to account for the vast j amounts of gold in that way, and iti is easier to believe bad of the Japanese. Ja-panese. Price News-Advocate. |
