Show GALBRAITH IS NEW LEADER Ohio Man Chosen National Comman der of American Legion at Cleveland Convention. F. W. Gnlbraith, Jr., of Cincinnati, wearer of tbe Distinguished Service Cross and two French decorations for heroism In the Meuse-Argonne offensive, offen-sive, in which he was wounded while commanding the One Hundred and Forty-seventh infantry, was unani-mousTy' unani-mousTy' elected national commander of the American Legion at the recent re-cent convention in Cleveland. Mr. Galbrailh was commissioned major in the First infantry, Ohio National Na-tional Guard, In 191G, and the same year was promoted to colonel. He was assigned to the One Hundred and Forty-seventh Infantry in 1917 and remained in command of that organization organi-zation until the end of the war. He took part in the St. Mihiel drive and served in the Baccarat and Ypres-Lys sectors. Since 1908. Mr. Galbraith" has been treasurer of the Western Paper Goods company of Cincinnati. He is forty-sis years old. The convention e'ected tbe following follow-ing vice commanders: John G. Emory, Em-ory, Grand Rapids. Mich.; E. ,7. Wins-lett, Wins-lett, Saheville. Ala.; Thomas J. Gold-ingny, Gold-ingny, Newark, N. J.; C. G. Fendill, Kenosha, Wis., and J. G. Scrugham, Reno. Nev. John W. Inzer of Montgomery. Mont-gomery. Ala., Was elected national chaplain. The delegates voted to make no change in the political restriction re-striction clause in the Legion constitution, consti-tution, and reiterated the organization's organiza-tion's position of "strict neutrality" in all disputes between capital and labor. Resolutions advocating complete exclusion of Japanese immigrants and denial of citizenship to "these unas-similable unas-similable people" were adopted, together to-gether with . numerous other recommendations recom-mendations regarding legislation designed de-signed to foster and safeguard 100 per cent Americanism. |
