City Council Acts On Petition At the regular meeting of the cTr?,, council last Saturday evening the question of closing Sunday night pictures pic-tures and Sunday baseball was disposed dis-posed of, and upon a vote of four to one, the custom that has been in vogue for some time past will remain re-main in force. The picture house will continue to give Sunday shows and the privilege of playing baseball on Sunday will be allowed. A petition submitted by Manager Duggins for the Casino and having a majority of twenty-three signers over che petition of the proponents for Sunday closing. An ordinance that wijl provide for the regulation of traffic on the ain thoroughfares of the city was introduced and read. The ordinance, patterned after that of Salt Lake City, will provide many features which, if carried out in full and rigidly enforced, will add greatly to the safety of travelers and all who use cars. The ordinance was ordered or-dered published, together with the provision of repealing the old ordinance. or-dinance. The matter of providing a camping place for tourist travelers and others oth-ers who are passing through town and wish to remain over night was taken up. It was the sentiment of the members of the council that such a place should be provided and that lavatories, water and other conveniences conveni-ences be provided the visitors. Mayor May-or Jones appointed Councilmen Mad-sen Mad-sen and Hermansen as a committee have the place fitted up for the campers. |
