Show Centerfield Has Big Celebration While the frost on the morning of July 3rd had the effect of demoralizing demoral-izing most of the potatoes, corn, squash, beans and other garden truck, giving the sad look of September, Septem-ber, it had little effect on the success of the Fourth, of July celebration at Centerfield. The program was carried car-ried out and enjoyed to the fullest extent, the day was ideal, and everybody every-body went in with the spirit of true patriotism and made the event one of the most successful ever held here. J. H. Simonsen acted as master of ceremonies and was marshal of the day. Chas. H. Embley delivered the oration to a large and interested audience. Miss Dora Jensen was "Goddess of Liberty," and was ably attended by Miss Elaine Simonsen and Miss Roberta Malmgren as maids of honor. Andrew Fjeldsted was chaplain. The program of sports, following the children's dance In the afternoon, proved one of the features fea-tures and was immensely enjoyed. ' Mrs. John Anderson of Sterling is visiting here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Embley. Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Funk spent the Fourth at Sterling, their former home, where their parents reside. C. A. Hickenlooper has removed his family to Salt Lake City. Mr. Hickenlooper will take charge of a large farm project located about 80 miles below Loa. Ray, the 9-months-old twin baby boy of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Fjeldsted, died last Tuesday following an attack of spinal meningitis. Funeral services serv-ices were held yesterday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. V. D. Chiffilds have returned from a visit with relatives and friends at Bountiful. |
