Show Celebrate Landing Of Early Pioneers With the spirit of patriotism predominating pre-dominating and with a view to paying tribute to the sturdy pioneers who blazed the trails to Utah and opened the gateway to all, the citizens of Gunnison, together with many visitors vis-itors from outside points, celebrated Pioneer day with pomp and glory last Monday. Opening with a program pro-gram in the morning and followed with a program of sports and other amusements in the afternoon, every-rv every-rv thing went along smoothly and ; proved an interesting and memorable celebration. In the morning at 10:30 hundreds gathered at the Casino and listened to an interesting program of song, and music and speeches, all of which proved highly entertaining. The addresses ad-dresses by some of the pioneers proved the features of the meeting and the reminiscenses told were interspersed in-terspersed with anecdotes that brought forth laughter and applause. During the afternoon the time was given to the entertainment of the "kiddies" and first was a dance at Peterson hall. The little ones enjoyed en-joyed a good time when adjournment was taken for tho sports ou Main street. There was lots of races and other doings that pleased both old and young, and the Twenty-fourth in Gunnison for 1921 was voted a grand success with a big dance in the evening. |
