Show SEVENTEEN MILLION CARS IN 1924 By January 1 the world will have in operation 17,000,000 automobiles, passenger cars and trucks, according to an estimate by M. H. Hoepli, chief of the automotive division of the Department De-partment of Commerce. Of that total, 14.000,000 will run in the United States, about one to every eight persons, per-sons, whereas in the rest of the world the proportion will be about 1 to 112 persons.
