Show Citizens Respond By Buying Seals Monday of this week witnessed the opening of the 10th annual Christmas Christ-mas Seal sale in Gunnison. The sale of the seals on the opening day was exceptionally good, according to members of the organization named to stage the sale, and the indications J are that long before the expiration j of the time set for selling the seals J closes, which is Christmas Eve, Gun- j nison's allottment will have been ex- j ceeded by a large margin. j "Buy, buy, buy," will be the slogan and every letter and every package that goes out should be adorned with j one of the little seals. "The more i i that the citizens of Gunnison buy of! the seals," said Mrs. J. W. Jones, j chairman of the Gunnison organiza- I tion, "the more financial aid will be forth coming, and in as much as the ' funds are for one of the greatest good health, it is up to all to make j the sale a thorough success." I A partial canvass of the business ! houses of the city has resulted in a I goodly sale of the health messages ' and before the week closes it is pre- ; dieted that a stock of seals will be found in every business establishment in the city. j At the churches last Sunday an- nouncement was made of the big sale ! that was to be waged in the city and as a unit all are joining. Rivalry Rival-ry in the schools for the cash prizes and handsome medals offered by the state association, is keeping and through the activity of the scholars many of the seals are being sold. The boy and girl in each school district selling the greatest number of seals will be awarded a cash prize of $10, the second prize will be $5 and the j third, $2.50. In addition to the cash prizes the state association offeres three medals, a Medhart gold medal, a silver medal and a bronze medal. The boy or girl selling the most seals j will get the gold medal. The next in ; ! standing will be awarded the silver and the third highest will receive the bronze medal. All are beautiful and the medals, together with the cash prizes, are worthy of effort. Much is to be gained by Gunnison over a healthy seal sale here. In addition to establishing the fact the citizens are squarely back of the movement, there is a strong chance of obtaining the regular services of a school nurse. In another colmun of the News will be found the plan outlined by James H. Wallis, executive execu-tive secretary, for the awarding of the prizes and medals. Read it and buy Christmas seals to the limit of your purse. |
