Show Remarkable Case of Heredity. A remarkable case of Inheritance of the abnormal fingers possessed by the first earl of Shrewsbury, related by Dr. H. Drink water to the Royal Society So-ciety of Medicine, Is reported In the London Lancet. In a direct male descendant de-scendant of the earl the ring fingef and little fingers of both hands had only one joint, the first two bones being be-ing united, and all the toes, except one, were similarly affected. This man's father and paternal grandfather showed the same abnormality, and when the body of the first Lord Shrewsbury was exhumed In 1ST4 It was found that his fingers were in a like condition. As he died in 1453, this peculiarity has come down nearly 500 years through 14 generations. |
