Show LONG DROUTH BROKEN. The drouth, which has caused considerable con-siderable anxiety among many of the farmers throughout Gunnison Valley where water was short, was broken last Monday afternoon when portions of the valley were drenched with a fine rain. In the West View section there was was a veritable downpour and the crops alt received a thorough thor-ough soaking. . All the streams and ditches were filled to overflowing, but no damage resulted. At Axtell the rain was general and the entire section was. visited by a steady rain for several minutes. The west part of Centerfield also had its share and reports are to the effect that a bumper bump-er second crop of alfalfa and a big beet crop are now assured. The rain was of a freakish nature, touching only certain sections. The rainfall in Gunnison was very slight, just sufficient suf-ficient to lay the dust for a short time. |
