Show GOOD THINGS WITHOUT COST It is pleasant to reflect just now when the high cost of living is causing caus-ing us all considerable concern, that there are 'some good things that can be had without money. The division of Health education of the state department de-partment of Public Instruction has adopted for the present school year this slogan: "Health and Happiness in Home and School." And why not? Health and Happiness Happi-ness are within the reach of all. It costs no money to take deep, full breaths every day. It costs no money to stand erect and avoid slouching. It costs no money to get fresh air and sunshine in any home or school. It costs no money to eat properly. It costs no money to keep clean just a little more work. It costs no money to be cheerful under trying circumstances just a little purposeful self-control. It is urged that the people all of them get acquainted with this slogan. slo-gan. It is desired that teachers and parents think health, to think happiness. happi-ness. It has been said, and it is quite true, that if one can be happy and cheerful until 10 o'clock, the whole day will be a happy one. Every parent par-ent and every teacher should remember remem-ber this because the health and happiness hap-piness of the children depend so directly di-rectly upon the health and happiness of those about them. And herein rests a great responsibility. The schools are undertaking it in very earnest to do their part. What will the parents do? |
