Show NEED ARMY AS . CENSUS TAKERS The Director of the Census, Hon. Sam L. Rogers, announces that SO, 000 enumerators will be needed to take the next census. The work begins on January 2 and will last about two weeks in cities, and a month or more in rural districts. Rates of pay will vary, depending upon the locality and character of the district to be canvassed. The average av-erage pay per enumerator at tho census of 1910 was about $70. At this coming census it will probably be not less than 5100. "Active, intelligent, and reliable; men and women, not less than IS years of age, are. needed for this task," said Director Rogers, "and, in a sense, this is a call for volunteers. The importance of a complete and reliable census, especially in these critical times when more than ever before perhaps we need complete data regarding population, conditions, condi-tions, tendencies and resources, can hardly be over-emphasized. The reorganization re-organization of the social and economic econ-omic structure and the readjustment of international relations necessitated necessitat-ed by the war must be based on accurate ac-curate knowledge if we are to act wisely and deal justly with all classes class-es and all interests. It is hoped, therefore, that public-spirited energetic ener-getic people throughout the country will volunteer to act as census enumerators enum-erators even though they may not care for the positions so far as pay is concerned. I should be sorry to think, and I do not believe, that all our patriotism was used up by the war and none ieft over for public service in times of peace." George Romney. Jr., supervisor of the census for the First District of Utah, which includes the counties of Box Elder. Cache, Carbon, Daggett, Davis, Duchesne, Emery, Garfield, Grand, Kane, Morgan, Piute, Rich, San Juan, Sanpete, Sevier, Summit, Uinta, Wasatch, Wayne and Weber, states that he will need about 1G9 enumerators for this district. Applications Appli-cations or requests for application forms should be sent to him on or before October 15. His address is Room 20G P. O. Bldg., Ogden, Utah. As a test of their fitness for the work applicants will be required to fill out a sample schedule and will be duly notified of the t'mo and place for this test.
