Show PRIZE BEETS DISPLAYED. H. McKenna, owner of the old Theodore Christenson ranch at Christenburg, displayed some prize beets in the city Wednesday of this week that were grown at his place. The two big beets weighed better than seven and a half pounds each and one of them measured nearly twenty inches in length. Mr. McKenna Mc-Kenna stated that they were picked promiscuously from a load and that the general average from his field was exceptionally fine. When the beets were planted this spring Mr. McKenna was advised to summer fallow, fal-low, as the land had long been in wild oats and had not been cultivated cultivat-ed for many years. Disregarding the advice Mr. McKenna planted three acres and his yield will equal any of those in the valley for uniformity in size and quality. |
