NOT A CANDIDATE FOR REELECTION J. M. Knighton, present ! mavor of Gunnison, is not out for re-election to the office which he has held for many rears. In a statement to a rep- resentative of the News Wed- i nesday morning, Mayor , Knighton said: "I am not a candidate for the oli'iee by any means and I will not accept the nomination if I can honorably j,. get out of it. A number of in- fluential citizens have visited -me and asked my consent to let my name go before the pri- mary next Monday night, but I "' have refused to allow it if it is in my power to do so. Mayor Knighton has served 12 years in an official capacity - for Gunnison, six years as mayor and four years as coun-oilman coun-oilman since the city was incor- porated. Before incorporation he was president of the town board for two years.
