Show Printing Bills Must be Reduced. Washington. Constant and uninterrupted unin-terrupted growth of the cost of public pub-lic printing has increased this item of public expense from $200,000 In 1840 to more than $7,000,000 in 1905. according to the report of the printing print-ing investigation commission created four years ago which has submitted to congress a report covering its extensive ex-tensive inquiry. Savings of more than a half million dollars a year are being effected, according to the report, re-port, as the result of legislation recommended rec-ommended from time to time, giving the joint committee on printing certain cer-tain powers of supervision. |
