Show DETERMINED TO HAVE WATER. Armed Men Open Flood Gates on Pike's Peak to Supply Victor With Water. Colorado Springs, Colo. Six armed men, supposedly from Victor, Colo.,, early Wednesday morning held up Caretaker Arthur of the Colorado-Springs Colorado-Springs water system, opened the flood gates on Pike's Peak and turned 174,000,00(1 gallons of water into the Victor reservoir. Caretaker Arlihur was held a prisoner for some time, hut finally escaped and telephoned to tlhe city for help. Sheriff Burdsall of Ell Paso county with a posse of I en armed men left immediately for the scene. The water supplies for Colorado Colo-rado Springs and the Cripple Creek district are located on the slopes of Pike's Peak, and disputes over them are frequent causes of friction between be-tween the two cities. It seems that Victor is short of water this year, although al-though Colorado Springs has had an aimple supply, having 900,000,000 gallons gal-lons left after the theft. |
