Show FATAL FIGHT OVER MONGREL DOG One Man in the Morgue and Another An-other in Jail as the Result of a Quarrel Over Common Cur. Two Negroes Engage in Fight at Cheyenne, the One Who Received the Worst of the Encounter Resorting to the Use of Firearms. Cheyenne, Wyo. Tiford Ashford Is dead and Harry Allen is In jail charged with his murder, and all because be-cause of a worthless mongrel dog. Allen, a colored vender of hot tia-males, tia-males, called at the saloon of Ashford, Ash-ford, also colored, at 7 o'clock Monday morning, accompanied by his dog. After several drinks Allen made his dog perform tricks, and during the performance the dog jumped against the bar. Ashford was behind the bar and remonstrated. The dog repeated the trick, and Ashford demanded pay from Allen for the damage. Allen refused re-fused to settle, and Ashford walked across the street and reported the matter to the police. Returning to the saloon he ejected Allen, and, it is said, assaulted Allen with brass knuckles, whereupon Allen ran out and into the hands of the police: Allen was later released with the understanding that he would go to a surgeon and get his wounds dressed, and return to jail, but instead he went home, secured an automatic revolver re-volver and returned to the Ashford saloon. Meeting Ashford in the doorway, door-way, Allen emptied his gun, five shots baking effect in Ashford's body. |
