Show ilot Very Creditable. An exchange has the following sensible words: A very pernicious habit, practiced in not only our town, is that of men and boys congregating con-gregating in business places and making women and girls the subject sub-ject of conversation, bordering on slander. As a general rule, the female portion of a community is far better than the male, and when tempted to do this in the future, just stop and think that you have a mother and sisters, and would you like to have their characters charac-ters made the subject of such gatherings gath-erings or anywhere else, in fact? There are people who, for the sake of satisfying this morbid habit, will take a small, harmless affair and almost make it a criminal action, and people, too, who claim to be respectable. Just remember, ''A still tongue maketh a wise head," and you had far better say nothing than to do another an irreparable injury. Take this friendly advice and be careful. |
