Show liingbam Canyon people raise I against the proposed change, is the similarity in the names, ''liingbam J Canyon" is the name of their post-' post-' oflieu, and ours, provided our request re-quest is granted, "Brigham," or "Brigham City." When the addresses ad-dresses are properly written there is not much resemblance. But granting there is a resemblance, on this very resemblance hinges a strong point in favor of the change, lirigham now has prob ably three or four times as much mail matter as Jiingham Canyon. Hear in mind that from a third to one-half of our entire mail still comes addressed to "lirigham," or 1 "Unchain City" in place of ''Box Elder." Now this proportion is equal to all of the mail that "liingbam "liing-bam Canyon" receives. All will admit there is a vast difference in the appearance of "Jlox Elder" and "liingbam." Now if a large half of our big daily mail comes addressed ad-dressed ''lirigham" and there is no such postollico in the Territory, and the closest resembling it is 'liingbam," or ''Jiingham Canyon," are we not in danger, as the names now stand, of having a third or a half of our mail matter switched off at Bingham? At present, a letter addressed "Brigham" sent to "Bingham" cannot be called an error on the part of the postal clerks, but if the name of our postoffice was "Brigham" it could be correctly chocked against him and he would be inclined to look closer before distributing. The odds are all in favor of our postofEee being changed back to Brigham, or Brigham City. We shall welcome the day when this is finally accomplished. OUR POSTOFFICE. Reasons Why the Name Should be Changed back to Brigham. At least ninety nine hundredths of the people of Brigham City and the surrounding settlements, who receive their mail from our post-ollice, post-ollice, are in favor of having the name of oui olliee changed from "Box Elder" back to Brigham. or Brigham City. This is the wish of from o,500 to -1.000 people who are immediately interested and w ho will be directly affected by the change. Our railroad name is lirigham; our postofl'ice "Box Elder." This perplexes and confuses con-fuses strangers exceedingly. Even as it is, from one-half to two-thirds of the mail destined to this city conies addressed ''Brigham" or 'Brigham City." Notwithstanding all this and the earnest prayers of 4,000 people for the relief, liingbam, a little out-of- ! the-wav ''Canyon" situated under 1 the shade of a few suburban trees on tho outskirts of Salt hake City, registers a protest against the reinstating of the name "Brigham Citv." There isn't much generosity generos-ity shown in such an act. It looks like a few hundred men throwing themselves down into a roa I with the vain hope of permanently per-manently checking the onward march of a great army. They may succeed in tripping up a few of the vanguard, causing a momentary Uelav, but they will finally be swiftly brushed aside and the iirmy will push ahead to gain iheir right? long withheld.
