Show In the January number of the? North American Review, Hanrvis Taylor, Tay-lor, in an article entitled '.'.The Solid South a National Calamity," deplores, the fact that by almost exclusive attention at-tention to an issue which is purely local the south has deliberately withheld with-held itself from exercising- its rightful right-ful influence in the determination of national affairs. Dr. Taylor, himself e southern man, urges his fellow southerners to broaden the Iscope of their political interests, and ;he sees in the growing importance of Southern South-ern industries an influence which will ultimately compel southerners to ' tange themselves with their northernr. brethren in the attempt to insure wise-and wise-and sane national policies, irrespective irrespec-tive of local prepossessions and prejudices. |
