Bo It ordained by the City Council of Salt Lako City, Utah: Section 1. That tho City Council does hereby lovy tho tax and provide for tho assessment of tho same upon tho nronerty hereinafter described In lots 1 and 4, block 16; 2 and 3, block 17; 2 and 3. block 40; 1 and 4, block 41; 1 and 4, block 44; 2 and 3, block 45; 2 and 3, block G8 1 and 4, block 69; 1 and 4, block 72; 12 and 3, block 73; 1 and 2, block 74; land 2, block 76; 2 and 3, block 90; 1 and t block 97; 1 and 4, block 100; 1, 2 and 3, block 101; 2 and 3, block 124; and 1 and 4, block 125, all In plat "D," Salt Lake City Survey, abutting on both sides of B Street from First Street to Ninth Street; on tho north side of Fifth Street from B Street to E Street, and on tho north side of Soventh Street from B Street to C Street, in Sidewalk District No. 24, said property having a frontage of 6,600 foot along said streots. An. ordlnanco defining tho duties and fixing tho liabilities of owners of and persons having control of real property abutting public streots or ways, with reference to tho placing or maintaining of obstructions or excavations upon such streets or ways. Bo It ordained by tho City Council of Salt Lako City, Utah: Section 1. Every landlord, or person, firm or corporation, owning, or having tho proprietary control of or agency over any lot or parcel of land or promises prom-ises abutting upon any public street, sidewalk, avenue, alley or way In Salt Lako City, shall keep and maintain every ditch, trench, excavation, culvert, pipo or drain, and every other flxturo or appurtenant connected with such lot or parcel of land or promises, or used for tho convenience or benefit thereof, in a safe and pnssablo condition In all places where such ditch, trench, excavation, exca-vation, culvert, pipe, drain or other fixture or appurtenant extends under, Into, across or upon, or exists under or upon any public sidewalk, street, alley, avenue or way of said city. Section 2. Any person, firm or "corporation "cor-poration violating any provision of this ordlnanco shall bo liablo in damages to any person injured either in person or property by reason of such violation, viola-tion, and shall also bo liablo to tho city for any damago It may sustain either directly or indirectly by reason of such violation. section 6. Any person, rirm or corporation cor-poration violating any provision of this ordinance shall bo deemed guilty of a misdemeanor. Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon approval.
