Show Something About Spooks. In current Popular Science is a delicious article ar-ticle by President David Starr Jordan, which purports pur-ports to be1 a lecture by a learned Hindu on the cycles which the soul passes through after leaving leav-ing this terrestrial body. It is filled with mystic words and phrases and may be described In general gen-eral terms as a flight into the impossible. It is a take-off of palmists and mediums and the occult pretenders who bewitch and levy assessments as-sessments on poor humanity. And it is written in Jordan's best style and has an air of probability probabil-ity about It which is liable to hold tho reader in doubt of its perfect sincerity up to the last paragraph. para-graph. And still the question comes back, Why are so many tangible creatures on our old earth seeking so oarneslly for tho truth of the Intangible Intan-gible a little beyond us? If we believe in tho immortality im-mortality of our own souls, then they go somewhere some-where after what we call death comes to us here. Where do they go? And why must there ever be silence between the myriad of souls that have passed on and the waiting ones here whoso longing' long-ing' for a word from tho departed Is perpetual? MHHHHHHilMHHHil |
