Where the government conies BB directly home to the people, where the units B count for most, is in the primaries. In this city B. ' are hundreds of men who wou.d be incensed if B 1 1 ., they were accused of not being good Americans, B !! i indignant if charged with neglecting their manl- B I fest duties. But not one of them is ever seen at B j a primary. They complain about the result of a B' j convention, but they did not lift a hand to have B ' the result different. B j i l Such men are not good citizens. They do not B i i j appreciate as they should that our government is B a trust handed down by the fathers and that it B 7 , is dishonored and endangered when men who B j wrap themselves up In the belief that they are B f! most excellent citizens, still refuse to take upon B f 'themselves the duties which their citizenship B makes imperative. When unworthy men are B elected to office the people are the ones to blame |
