Show H ; ., A Denver dispatch announces the death, on K, jj Monday last of Colonel R. B. Goodell. He was a son- Kj V J in-law of an old-time Illinois Governor, the fath- Hjj h ' er-in-law of ex-Governor Grant of Colorado, of Hir jjj I good stock was he and he was a sterling man. Hj jjj He was at Col. Harden's side when he was killed H j( at Buena Vista; he was a veteran of the Civil War. B.i J j He has been one of the strong men of Colorado B ( for thirty years; he helped to give form and direc- B "j tion to the state and all his life he was a gentle, H j t genial, clear-brained, most useful citizen. He H 'L was loved exceedingly in his adopted state and H i j' will be greatly missed and mourned, for he was B1 ' one of those men who always thought more of B ;? I his fellow man than of himself, and his pride in B h , 1 and affection for Colorado were a grand passion. B . J He goes down to the grave followed by the sin- B ij ( cere respect and the deep affection of a great B L state. Among the graves of Colorado's pioneers B jj1' his should be allotted a conspicuous place. |
