' j & j Sam Newhouse has returned from New York with a smile that refuses to come off. The compliment com-pliment paid him in the raise of the Cactus shares before a wheel has turned, as well as his success with Majestic and "Boston," give Ulm a reason to be greatly satisfied with himself. The smile is very becoming. Mrs. Newhouse and Mrs. Irwin will leave for Europe in a couple of weeks. tv iv & What do you think of a hostess who looks at a clock when she is winner in a poker game, and asks her guests if they have car fare to go home? We stick the hard to stick. toe & & Captain Morrow and Dorsey Ash are the moving mov-ing spirits in a new tennis association to be known as the Inter-Mountain Tennis Association, Including five clubs the Country Club, Fort Douglas, B street, Miller Court and Third South Clubs. The object Is to broaden the field of tennis and to bring in men from other states to play in this city, for handsome prizes. Tournaments for ladles will also be arranged. Every tennis player should lend his suport to this commendable enterprise. en-terprise. fc5 w w Walter Boyd Townsend, who will be remembered remem-bered here by many old friends, will be married in Oakland on February 22nd, to Miss Leila McKilli-can McKilli-can of that city. They will go east on their wedding wed-ding trip, and will be here on the twenty-fourth of this month. Besides the congratulations, they will be given a surprise by a few of their old friends who are busy arranging the event. The 22nd of February will now be important for more than one reason. Townsend always wanted to be famous. JZ & t The large event of the week was the charity ball on Tuesday evenfng, given by the Council of Jewish Women, which was a large and successful suc-cessful event. Dancing was enjoyed until after midnight, and an elabqrate supper was servei. & & & At a meeting of the directors of our apartments, apart-ments, the name "The Sign of the Broken Heart" was changed to "The Sign of the Simple Life." Lipman and children have returned re-turned from Detroit, where they spent the holidays. holi-days. & & & The luncheon given by Mrs. Ellsworth Daggett Dag-gett for Mrs. Walcott Thompson was a delightful event of Thursday. dfr y An elaborate luncheon of Thursday was that given at the Commercial Olub by Mrs. Thomas Marioneaux for about thirty friends. & & & Mrs. George Downey entertained on Thursday for Mrs. Gallagher of Omaha. Bridge was played. & & & An interesting wedding of Thursday was that of Miss Myrtle Banks and Leroy Eccles, which took place in this city, and was followed by a large reception in the evening at the home of the bride's parents. Mrs. Kirkpatrick entertained about twenty of her friends at the home of Mrs. John Marshall on Wednesday. cr fr iV Mr. and Mrs. E. O.
