Show THE PORTLAND EXPOSITION. Mr. Marshall has been here in the interest of the Portland Louisiana Purchase exposition, for several days. The Oregon people are making all needed prepartions for a splendid exhibit, and, not on account of Oregon, but of Utah, the people of Utah should have such a showing there as will reflect back glory upon this state. There is a feeling more or less pronounced, that Utah should make no display in Portland because of the bad temper shown by Oregon people in the matter of giving the permanent Mining Congress to Denver, Den-ver, but by adopting that course Oregon will not suffer; the whole loss In prestige will fall upon Utah. Utah by her exhibit ought to give to Oregon an object lesson to the effect that when she denied de-nied to Utah the Mining Congress, she made a grave mistake. The mineral exhibit from this state should be an especial feature. Utah can show a greater variety than any other state in the Union or any country in the world. Then all men in the west ought to have a sectional sec-tional pride in the showing to be made at Portland, Port-land, for the west will, in a measure at least, b judged by the Portland exposition. The world will be attracted to it; thousands of people will be there who as yet have never come west; they should not be disappointed, but should be made to see that the west end of this continent is worthy their special attention. |
