Show H THE POOR DUMB ANIMALS. H There must necessarily be a vast loss of stock H because of the snow and the icy weather of the Hj past month. In 1837 the winter was so fearful H between the Sierras and Rocky mountains that H the buffaloes that had previously been plenty in H this region, all perished, and tne destruction of M live stock where they are not fed or protected m must be fearful. It is wicked for men to thus ex- M pose animals. It is a sign of inferior civilization, M and should be done away with. If men would lm- prove their stock and then make arrangements to j feed and shelter them during inclement weather, H they would make more money out of a few head M than they now make out of great bands, for a3 M this winter is presenting itself there will be no H great bands in the spring. |
