She reports that Derrick is enjoying his new job at Southern Utah University. Uni-versity. Visiting with Desmond and Gretna Gre-tna Twitchell on Sunday were Connie Con-nie and Bill Scadlock from Orem. They met them in the Mission Field in Canada where both couples were serving Temple missions in the Toronto Temple. The Twitchells attended the wedding of Lyllian Shakespeare and Russell LeFevre held in Henrieville on Mar. 24. On Sunday, they were also visited by Gretna's sister Rhoda Shafer and her daughter, Donna Metcalfe from Salt Lake City. To correct'an error in last weeks column: Gloria Clark went to Salt Lake City with Klyn and Nancy Chynoweth, as I reported, but it was not to take their son Klinton to the Missionary Training Center in Provo, but to see him off on the plane for Preston, England where they have a training center for the missionaries who serve in European countries. So, Klinton is already taking his training and when he completes it, he will go to Scotland to serve a two-year mission. Bill and 'Bonnie Nelson were visited by their daughter Marie Merchant of Richfield. Her son who was riding with her suffered a broken arm. On Sunday, at the Cannonville LDS meeting, the Relief Society lesson was given by Tammy Jes-sen. Jes-sen. It was on "Following the Prophet" and the Primary Children, with their leaders, came in and very beautifully sang, "Keep the Com mandments" and "Stand for the Right". The meeting was a Fast and Testimony meeting because ol the upcoming General Conference. The Cub Scouts want to express their thanks for the generous donations dona-tions of food that was contributed by ward members in the recent food drive. Lonnie Camp underwent tonsil surgery at the hospital recently and seems to be recovering well. Recently, Jacob, Rita and AC Hammer attended the missionary farewell for grandson and nephew Jonathan Poole in San Clemente. Calif. Elder Poole will be serving in the Merida, Mexico mission. Glenna Fletcher went to St. George and visited her parents, also an uncle and aunt, Lafarand Bernice Broderick. They gave her a. birthday party. They attended the Temple and on her way home she visited friends she hadn't seen for forty years. |
