Show Cannonville CJgix j By Marva Fletcher 679-8521 Alma and Anita Fletcher made a trip to Mesa, Ariz., to visit family members and while there they attended at-tended the baptism of a grandson. On Saturday evening at LDS baptismal services in Tropic, Amber Am-ber Stock was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Elder Daniel Thompson. She was confirmed in LDS Sacrament meeting on Sunday by Joe Thompson. Other ward business conducted in the meeting was the awarding of a graduation certificate from Primary for Jory Twitchell, so he will be entering the Young Men's program. Trish Thompson was released as education educa-tion counselor in Relief Society and Rita Hammer was sustained and set apart to fill this position. Youth speaker was Lace Walker and she was followed by Clinton Chy-noweth Chy-noweth and high council representative representa-tive Ralph Chynoweth, followed by his wife Lael, whom we claim as one of us, since she grew up here. Several LDS ward members have attended the choir practices in Escalante to sing in Stake Conference Confer-ence on April 23. Shilla Mathews, who is working work-ing in St. George came for a brief visit with her parents, John and Charlotte Mathews. Wilma Dutton went to Cedar City with her daughter Helen and granddaughter, Macie Sawyer for a day of visiting and fun. Don Mangum had cataract surgery sur-gery on his other eye. Miriam Mangum came from Salt Lake City and Melvin, Brenda and Pat Mangum Man-gum came from Ivins and took grandpa Don to Hole-in-the-Rock last Saturday. Kay Dunham attended a Special Needs Conference in Kanab on Friday Fri-day and got a lot of good information informa-tion from the upstate people. Minok and Kay Dunham took Minok's grandchildren up north for a brief visit with their mother. I They report having a nice trip. Darrell and Lois Bartholomew, their son Gene and his wife Stacy and four children spent several days here visiting family members and seeing the sights of the area. They spent time at Grosvenor's Arch, went down Cottonwood Road and also spent a day at Hackberry, which over the years, has become a favorite spot to them. One day they took Aunt Marva Fletcher to Hillsdale and saw the house where she was born. Marva said it looked like it had weathered the storms of life better than she has. They had an enjoyable day of visiting and taping stories she remembered from the past. Then went to lunch at the Bryce Canyon Pines. Lois is a daughter of Reed and Ruth Thompson Thomp-son and a niece to Marva Fletcher and George Thompson. She also enjoyed visiting with cousins, Guy, George and Joe Thompson and families. The Clyde Heiners, who bought Melda Davis' home are spending the weekend here. Also the Ronald Mulcahy family, who bought Kendall Ken-dall Dutton's home. Visiting LDS Sacrament meeting meet-ing on Sunday were President Klyn Chynoweth and wife Nancy and family of Henrieville and Gene and Mary Etta Chynoweth and their daughter, Renon, who also had her little grandson with her. |
