Show Escalante Police Activity Report ESCALANTE Escalante Police Po-lice Chief Sam Winkler reports the following police activity for the past week: Apr. 19 - There was a dumpster fire near the race track. Residents are reminded to not put hot ashes in the dumpsters. Police responded to an alleged burglary at a residence, but investigation investi-gation showed no burglary. No action ac-tion was taken. Apr. 20 - A one-car rollover four miles north of Turn About Ranch resulted in minor injuries. The accident is still under investit-gation. investit-gation. Apr. 21 - The police responded to a car fire about four miles west of Escalante. The ambulance and fire department responded and contained con-tained the fire. The highway was shut down for a brief time during the containment. Apparently, the owner of the vehicle attached the car to his motor home and left the car in gear, causing it to catch fire. The owner was able to safely detach the vehicle and no one was injured. Apr. 22 - Yury Abrukin, 50, Oceanside, N.Y., was arrested for open container in a vehicle. He was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for speeding. He was cited and released. Jonathan S. Gray, 45, Marina, Calif., was arrested for DUI. He had been stopped for speeding when alcohol was detected. He was questioned, ques-tioned, then arrested. He was . booked into the Garfield County Jail for DUI, open container, disorderly disor-derly conduct, and speeding. His vehicle was also impounded. Ruth A. Zwygart, 21, Glen-wood, Glen-wood, Utah, was arrested along -with Gray. She was a passenger in the vehicle and became disorderly during the routine inventory of the vehicle. She was also booked into the Garfield County Jail for intoxication, intoxi-cation, interference with a public servant and disorderly conduct: Information concerning criminal activity can be taken confidentially (See POLICE on Page 5A) POLICE From Page 3A by calling 826-4223 in Escalante or the Garfield County Sheriffs Office in Panguitch. The Escalante City Police also remind residents that they must treat a four-way intersection inter-section without stop or yield signs as a four-way stop. |
