Show PAtJGUITCtl NEWS By Earl Roe 676-2376 wearlroeyahoo.com The big news for all of us this past week you already know. The Northern part of our state is getting clobbered with snow and our Southern part is getting a pittance. Hopefully this pattern will reverse before Spring springs upon us or before this column comes out! The "First Night" Luau held at the Triple C New Year's Eve was a first for Panguitch and was a lot of fun. Lots of good food, good entertainment and fun games. Rick Swanger handled han-dled the music with his electronic electron-ic equipment. (He and Karen recently returned from a trip to Hawaii. I wonder if he went to get an idea of what kind of music he would have to play?) I had a short visit with Karen and their three daughters who are here to help them bring in the new year. Karen said they really real-ly enjoyed their Hawaii vacation. vaca-tion. Scott Christensen was the general chairman of this "First Night" event and he and all those who helped in any way deserve a bis vote of thanks. From some of the comments I heard this or something similar will become an annual event. Dawna Barney has received word that Travis Judd (her great nephew) was named to the 5-A, All State Football Team. Travis is a linebacker for Hunter High School who won the 5-A Championship this year. He is the son of Harry Judd who grew up in Panguitch and graduated from our Panguitch High School. Travis is the grandson of Don and Lucille Judd and the grandson of Harry and Hazel Judd. Both of these two couples were long time residents of Panguitch. Most of us "old timers" will remember Harry as one of our UDOT workers for many years. I . know there were many "Panguitchites" who came home to spend all or part of the holidays with Mom snd Dad and I wish I could name more of them but Evalyn and I were quite busy with our own "full house". Maloy and Carolyn Dodds were fortunate to have all of their children and grandchildren (except for some grandsons serving missions) home during the week. On the Dec. 27 for a family dinne.r they had Steve and Marty Dodds, Cedar City, and their children and grandchildren grandchil-dren (five and five respectively); respective-ly); David Dodds, Murray, and his two children. (David's wife Terry was ill and could not come); Janet and Brian Johnson and daughter. (Janet is working in Las Vegas and their daughter Bethany is attendingschool in Galveston, Tex.); daughter Rebecca came down from Orem; Carolyn and Jeff Owens, Alpine, and their three daughters; daugh-ters; Joyce and Scott Christensen and their seven youngsters; Wally and Amy Dodds and their two children. (Joyce and Wally and their families fam-ilies are lucky enough to be able to live here?). The above named' individuals are Maloy and Carol's immediate family members, mem-bers, but there were other guests present: Carol's sister, Jean Gottfredson, Provo; Lucille Proctor and her three daughters; and Catherine and Vermon Barney; and as a guest of honor (I'm sure) Maloy's mother Rhea Dodds. Rhea will soon be 98 years of age. Wally was in charge of preparing the dinner of prime rib but I am sure he had to have some help in preparing for a group of this size. Now that the hustle and bustle bus-tle of the holiday season is behind us, I hope that many of our readers (and non-readers) will send in more news items that former residents like to know about. You have to be on my end of this column to really know how much these individuals individu-als like to be able to keep in touch with what is happening in and to the "old home town". ' But in no way, do we limit news appealing only to those who don't live here any more. Local folk like to know what's going on locally, too.
