Show Scoffield Named President Of English Academic Society REXBURG, Ida. - Troy Scoffield, son of William and Cherie Scoffield of Cannonville, Utah, is working to spread his excitement across campus at Brigham Young University -Idaho in Rexburg, Idaho. Scoffield, a 1998 graduate of Homestead High School in Sunnyvale, Calif, is the president presi-dent of the English Academic Society at BYU-Idaho. As such, he describes his responsibilities as encouraging and planning a "curriculum outside of the regular regu-lar English program and thought provoking concepts within the English major program." The society welcomes guest speakers from various positions at the school at seminars and forums where students interested interest-ed in the discipline of English can learn together. The program is not limited to English majors, however, as Scoffield is trying to reach out to other students who may be interested in the discipline. "The society is tailored to all English majors, as well as all those interested in reading and writing," he said. A charter member of the society soci-ety last year, Scoffield started out as the public relations officer offi-cer and fiscal manager before stepping in to the role of president presi-dent for his senior year. Since that time, he has seen the participation partic-ipation levels skyrocket, a trend he sees continuing far into the future. "This program is going to go forward no matter what happens," hap-pens," he said. "I just love the society.
