Show Pqnguifich Hews By Mamie Talbot 676-8084 Rain this past week has really surprised Panguitch folks. January is usually too cold for such a thing here. The Panguitch Lake road has been open all the way around, the ice fishing is keeping folks busy mostly rather close to shore and, the deer are running through very small patches of snow. Weird weather for us. The Panguitch LDS 2nd-3rd ward chapel was the site for the wedding of Wade Wilcock and Bonnie Bon-nie Nelson on Jan. 14. Panguitch native Roy Wilcock is the groom's father and Vera Wilcock is his grandmother. She lives in the care center so was close so she could attend the festivities. , The John Hughes family is getting get-ting an attractive pre-built house moved on to the corner lot at 2nd South and 3rd West, on the road to the former Kaibab sawmill. Nicholas Bangerter, grandson of Kirk and LaVenda Moore will marry Stephanie Smith in South Ogden. Nicholas is a son of Keven and Cindy Bangeter, Ogden. Bob and Juanita Smith are spending two weeks at Quartzite, Ariz., and surrounding area. The winners of the Panguitch Elementary School spelling bee were Courtnie Packer, 1st place and Caitlyn Josie, 2nd place. They attended the district spelling bee in Tropic. In Panguitch LDS 1st Ward Sacrament meeting, Jennifer Nay received her Young Womanhood Award. Denise Dastrup was sustained sus-tained as Relief Society Compassionate Compas-sionate Service leader and Colette Nay was sustained as Relief Society Funeral Committee chairman. Elder Nick Crosby, youngest son of Evan Crosby and the former Shauna Excell has returned from his mission to Fresno, Calif, and reported re-ported in his LDS ward in Salt Lake City. His aunt Jaynell Bailey took his grandmother Maxine Crosby to attend the report. Other grandparents are LaRue Thornton, Dick and Jane Excell and Hilma Excell. ' Nick was Evan and Shauna's fourth son to serve a mission. mis-sion. Evan was killed in an automobile auto-mobile accident two years ago. Panguitch native Warren Hay cock, 81, son of Scott and Alice Judd Haycock, died in a Bountiful hospital Dec. 23. The family grew up in Panguitch in what is now the Kirk and Lavenda Moore home. His brothers were Scott, C.V., Woodrow, Fred, Stanley, Dick and Harold. His sisters were Clella Haycock and Helen Brown. This year is the first that Warren hasn't made it home for Memorial Day and the deer hunt. He and Norma have two daughters and a son (deceased). Warren's funeral and burial were in Deweyville where he and Norma have lived since their marriage in 1941. Richard (Dick) Anderson, son of Roy (Andy) and Gwen Anderson, former Chevrolet dealers in Panguitch, Pan-guitch, died of cancer in Orem. He was a brother of Blaine Anderson of Ruby's Inn. Bob Evans, husband of Beth Cherrington Evans and owner of the Jess Cherrington house next to Kate Church, died Dec. 22 in Las Vegas. They have two daughters and a son. Funeral and burial were in Las Vegas. Ken and Emma Hatch Ahlstrom went from here for the funeral. Tom Simkins is remodeling the Utah State University Experiment Farm house and has moved into it. The David Hardys have moved into Tom's house on Main Street. Skip and Sherri Houston came from Salt Lake City for the funeral of Alf Crofts and spent the weekend with his parents, Frank and Jerilu Houston. Paul and Lynda Henrie and a grandson from West Jordan and Cullen and Kay Holyoak of Cedar City spent a weekend with their mother, Shirley Henrie. They welcomed wel-comed Shirley's great-grandson, Elder Brandon Henrie, home and heard the report of his mission to South Africa. Many folks attended the welcoming wel-coming reception for Robert Banks and family. He is the new principal of Panguitch High School. Larry Mrvicka celebrated his birthday on Christmas day with most of his family members. They spent the time tubing, among other activities. Thora and Bert Leach were here with their family. Earl and Evalyn Roe took their granddaughter grand-daughter to Yosemite National Park to see her folks, the Doug Roe family. fam-ily. Peter Frandsen came home to see his mother Allie and family. Shirley Henrie spent part of the holidays with Earl and Lola Henrie and with Kay and Cullen Holyoak in Cedar City. Elder Danny Yardley called home from Russia to talk to his family. Former Bishop Robert and "Cindy Tebbs Judd were here. Wayne and Colleen Miller had her folks, Lanard and Nan Johnson, here. Pepper and Wade Gale spent Christmas with Arthur and Sheri Miller here and in Henrieville with Shed's parents, the Neilsons, and her grandmother Lula Moore. Dr. Gunn and family were here hunting elk and doing plumbing repairs on their home. In Panguitch LDS 2nd Ward sacrament meeting, Daisy Miller was called to be a Primary teacher. Melvin Barnhurst and Doug Allen were Stake visitors to the ward. The choir sang a special musical number. Wes Hall was recently married to a lady from Circleville. Todd and Debbie Mosdell spent Christmas in Washington. Maria Chidester spent Christmas Christ-mas with her parents, Ted and Shirley. Shir-ley. The family spent some time at the cabin at the Lake. Norm and Dora Ann Henrie had their children home for Christmas. Bruce and Jolene Hatch visited in town from Nevada. The former Natalie Liston, her husband David and children and Glen Liston spent the holidays with mom Marie Liston. Lis-ton. Leland, Donna and Duke Marshall Mar-shall spent the holidays in Esca-lante Esca-lante with their daughters and sisters sis-ters Cindy, Stephanie and Sonya and families. Greg and Claudia Payne had most of their family home for the holidays. Their two missionaries called home. . In Panguitch LDS 4th Ward Sacrament meeting, Matt and Mike Black were ordained priests and they were the youth speakers. Stake speakers were Joe Dalton and Afton Blood. The choir sang a special number. Released from ward positions posi-tions were Tracy Armstrong, Mike Davis and Tonya Hunt. Sustained to new positions were Mike Davis as deacons quorum advisor, . Bret Taylor as scout leader and Lesa Taylor Tay-lor as primary teacher. |
