They stayed in a motel for two nights, attended sessions in the St. George LDS Temple, shopped, did some scrapbooking, visited and, of course, dined out and had a great time. It was a good break from the daily routine for all four of them. Which reminds me, the Escalante Ladies Reunion will be on Saturday, June 14 in Richfield, so put that on your calendar, all you gals. Dianne Alvey visited in town for a couple of days last week. She and Darrell are still living in Phoenix. She spent some time in St. George with her daughter and son-in-law David and Nadine Woolsey, on her way here. She stayed with Crockett and Sharon Dumas and enjoyed some trail rides with them, one out on Antone Flat. Darrell was getting ready to take the horses to Prescott, Ariz., so Dianne took a few days off to come to Utah. She also visited Arnold Alvey and other relatives while she was here. Ray L. Alvey (Arnold's brother), Roy, Utah, passed away on Friday May 16, of a heart attack. He was 72 years old. Our condolences to the Alvey family. The Escalante High School Seniors, 17 of them, and their teacher, Susan Shurtz, ate lunch with the Senior Citizens on Tuesday of last week. This is getting to be an annual thing for them. They enjoyed lunch and especially got a kick out of the Senior Citizens' calendar! Frank and Kathryn Coleman recently returned from a trip to Myrtle Creek, Ore., to visit their grandson Shaun Coleman and his wife Sheila and two very cute great granddaughters, Shaylee and Shelby. They took two good chauffeurs along, their daughter Deanne Coleman and granddaughter Shalaine Coleman, so they were able to just sit back and enjoy the view! They visited the old mining towns and Lake Tahoe in Nevada, and the Redwood forest for-est on their way up. Shaun took all of them to the Oregon Coast Sand Dunes at Coos Bay and they enjoyed seeing the lighthouses light-houses there. They left Shalaine in Baker, Ore., with Christy Townsend to visit for a few days, then the Townsends will bring her home. Frank, Kathryn and Dearine came back home by way of Yellowstone Park, Jackson Hole, Wyo., and the Grand Tetons. The most impressive thing they saw were the big rivers and lots of lush GREEN! Oh to have some of that! DeLane and Leah Griffin eel- 1 1 1 i i ii ii j ebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Monday, May, 12. Their children who live here, Marlene and Stan Stowe, Quinn and Doneen Griffin and Joy and Bart Carter and their families met with them to reminisce remi-nisce and eat cake and ice cream. Didn't they just celebrate cele-brate their 50th last week? Anyway congratulations to them! Phillip and Harriet Priska had Harriet's mom Winnie Washburn of Salinas, Calif., here for a week She enjoyed her visit here and enjoyed lunch and visiting with the senior citizen group. Brandon Haws came from St. George to spend a couple of days with his grandparents Klyn and Marlene Haws. He had a good visit and gave grandpa's horse some exercise while he was here, then went on to Salina to visit his folks Jon and Jillyn Sorensen and family. |
